Perfect timing for a review on the Huda Beauty Matte Lipsticks as I sit down to read the Harper’s BAZAAR – October 2016 edition with Huda Beauty on the cover page.
I’m a matte lipstick addict and today I’m quite excited to share my review on the Huda Beauty Matte Lipsticks as its highly requested. For those who are beauty junkies, you probably know about who Huda Beauty is and for those who don’t, Huda Beauty is celebrity makeup artist, top beauty blogger/vlogger and a beauty icon based out of the UAE. She has a line of cosmetics stocked up at Sephora worldwide. She is a great inspiration to loads of beauty bloggers including myself. Without further adieu, lets get right into the review!
I got my hands on two out of the 16 colours and honestly, it was a pretty tough decision. I think the colours are fabulous and great for those who love nudes for the most part. I decided to go for TRENDSETTER and CHEERLEADER, as I would have a fair idea of how different colours payoff from nudes to deep! On a separate note, the colours are fab for Asian skin tones.
Packaging: The packaging is pretty different from what you get to see generally on other beauty brands and by that I mean, she has her lips designed on the packaging – how chic is that?! The overall packaging is in plastic and the lipstick holds up in a frosted plastic bottle with a wand applicator which makes it quite easy to apply with.
Texture/Formula: Her formula is moisturizing and runnier than what I have tried before. It feels tacky but doesn’t leave patches on the lips and is great to build on. It has a soothing sensation when applied. I usually have two coats on and it stays on for an entire day with a touch up once or twice for a fresher look and feel. It has a hint of cocoa I guess which is great, if you are cocoa lover. The texture is also perfect for those who like to create an ombre effect on their lips. The lipstick is long lasting but does tend to wear off to a little extent after meals but it doesn’t look hideous – it just looks like a lighter version of the original shade. It feels light weight on the lips and the weight seems to wear off after a while and feels like you have nothing on.
Trendsetter: Deep brown hue which is prefect for an everyday wear and is my go-to matte nude ever since I’ve got my hands on it. It stands out for sure and you do get heads turning!
Cheerleader: A red colour with an pink tint and settles into a lovely matte red-pink tone. ‘The’ colour for your date night, perhaps!
Verdict: I absolutely love, love, love the lipsticks as they have a stunning colour pay off, last long, feel light and have a great line up of colours. The purchase is worth it and I would love to get a few more, to add on to my already existing matte fixation! I think I’m more inclined towards buying Trophy wife and Bombshell. One can never have enough nudes for sure!! If you are planning to splurge on these and have second thoughts, please go ahead by all means and get yourself the ones you have been eyeing, I vouch! The lip pencil does define the look but you can also just outdraw your lips to get the Kylie Jenner pout. The lip pencil can also be used as a lipstick and it is quite long lasting as well.
