Location: Muscat, Oman
Room: One bedroom suite
I travelled from Dubai to Muscat last weekend as I was invited for a stay at the Park Inn, Muscat. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and is approximately 15mins away from the airport. Proximity to any business location/tourist spot from the hotel is about 15 – 20mins which makes it an ideal location.
Valet: The hotel provides valet service, and there is also shaded parking area for guests right in-front of the entrance.
Check in: As I walked into the hotel struggling with my luggage I expected help form the bellboy, but to my surprise there was no one available near the entrance. I headed towards the check-in counter and was greeted by the staff on the counter. The check-in was swift as the occupancy wasn’t high and we were given a one bedroom suite with the city/sea view. The staff at the counter were well-informed and gave us an overview of the hotel, restaurant, breakfast timings and other facilities. I noticed a little Arabian coffee(Kahwa) and dates station on the right as I walked in, which is a great refreshment to start with while you wait in line(if any) for the check in or relax in the lobby.
Loyalty card: Park Inn is part of the Carlson Group and we were suggested to fill out a form at the check in counter in order to attain the loyalty card that can be used for discounts and other benefits provided by the Carlson Group.
Room: One Bedroom Suite with city/sea view
The decor was modern, basic and minimalistic as its all about neat details and signature Park Inn colors – Blue, red, yellow and green. The light colored walls and light wood furniture with blue accents in the room bring about the Park Inn style which is prevalent in all their properties world-wide. The entire setting of the rooms has a calming factor and feels like home away from home.
Sama Terrazza – Rooftop Bar
The seating is casual and comfortable beside the pool side which is a stunning view by itself. The neon colored lighting on the rooftop adds the extra bit of character and uplifts the mood right on for the evening. With a dip in the mercury its the ideal place to be and time to make the most of it as the terrace remains closed during the summer time. The staff is attentive and usually ask you for another round of drinks before you finish your 1st. The location is on point, the service is spot on, the music is great on thursdays and fridays. I totally, totally recommend this place and once you experience it yourself, you probably would become a regular there.
RBG Restaurant at the Park Inn Muscat has a live cooking concept where you can see your meal being prepared right in front of you. They vouch on using the freshest of ingredients and refrain from using pre-marinated ones. RBG offers one of the best steaks ever, with other sepcialities like Omani delicacies, Indian and Continental to name a few. The restaurant also offers a drinks menu if you fancy a drink with your meal in a dominant red colored contemporary setting. Without much wait we dived right into the menu. My husband ordered the Tenderloin Steak without a second thought and after the recommendation that came pouring in from the Head Chef, whereas, I ordered my ultimate favorite – Smoked cheese mushroom Ravioli in white sauce. If I see a mushroom ravioli on the menu, I’m the happiest person.
The Tenderloin Steak was medium rare and was made to perfection. It tasted tender, succulent with a pink juicy center and went perfectly well with the sides. It absolutely melted in the mouth and left a great feel on the palate. The portion is generous and your bound to walk out with a full and fuller belly. The sides include hand cut fries, onion rings and salad. Highly Recommended**
The smoked cheese and mushroom ravioli sounded divine and tasted even better. The smoked cheese did the trick and went down really well. The cheese was not over powering and felt extremely light on the palate while maintaining the right smokey texture and taste. The mushrooms tasted great, although I’m more inclined to the ones that are made into a paste and then filled into the ravioli than the mushroom slices alone. The ravioli tasted perfect though!
I ordered for the signature drink named RBG woo woo! It was essentially a vodka based drink that consisted of fruit liquor, peach and cranberry juice to add that punch. I love cranberry in my drinks and this was perfection!
Breakfast: The Palm Restaurant
The Palm Restaurant offers the breakfast spread from 06:30 – 10:00 (Sun-Thu) and 06:30 – 11:00 (Fri – Sat). The seating is widespread over the entire area on the ground floor right opposite the lobby/reception area. The breakfast was great, I totally enjoyed the omelette made by the chef on the live counter along with other English breakfast staples on offer. The spread includes almost everything from your choice of cereals, milk, croissants, assorted breads, fruits etc. What I really liked was that they also make pancakes/crepes on request. And, not to forget the coffee I had was on-point and tasted smooth on the palate with mild bitterness and acidity.
