Di Ghent Cafe – Review

I visited a quaint cafe in the middle of all the hustle and bustle in Gurgaon, that is located on the outskirts of Delhi on my recent visit to India.
Cafe Di Ghent is a Belgian cafe that boasts of a great selection of breakfast options including the classic Belgian waffles/pancakes, paninis and pastas on the menu along with their famous house desserts. Ghent is a city located in the Flemish region of Belgium.

It was late afternoon while I visited the cafe with my cousins and I was craving for a good cuppa coffee and a dessert to compliment it with of-course. Not counting calories usually while I’m in the mood to indulge and which have to admit is happening way more often than it should. I was quite jet lagged from my recent travel to Amsterdam and then to Delhi. A good coffee would be a perfect pick me up!

I’m a cafe bug, I enjoy sipping my cup of coffee in a rustic little cafe that takes you away from the realities of life, calms your senses down, the ambiance is way too dreamy and cottage like, with notes of Norah Jones playing as the ambient music, European cafe feel away from Europe and the best food, coffee and desserts that are on offer! Ever so rustic and original in its appearance! This is an ideal day for me, an escape, I should say!
I’m always on the look out of quaint cafes that have so much character and feel to it like no matter what they serve is going to be divine for sure!
I’m the most thoughtful, creative and imaginative in such settings and cozy cafes are always on my list to be explored while I’m out and about.

The cafe has rustic interiors with a painting of the city Ghent on one corner, and stone walls on the other giving it the peferfect Belgian/French character with house specials mentioned on the chalk board menu, and dainty white tables creating a perfect European setting! The counter tops are wooden and rustic that display freshly baked breads and desserts on offer along with a selection of assorted teas.

Due to time constraints and a post lunch visit I could only indulge in having a cappucino and dessert that was made to mere perfection. The blend used for the coffee seemed to have a medium body and had higher acidic levels which made it more flavorful and strong. I ordered for Vrijdagmarkt described as the Belgian hot chocolate fondue served with vanilla ice cream and a hint of liquor. It tasted absolutely, sinfully, delicious with the hot chocolate fondue oozing out and tastes even better with a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream!!! And, we ordered for another one. No, were not over doing it, we just couldn’t get enough of it!

My cousin ordered the her favorite carrot cake that tasted carroty, moist with a tinge of cinnamon and was made to the right consistency. It was served with a small dollop of fresh whipped cream on the side… omnomnom!

The service was immaculate and prompt and I can’t wait to go back for a fuller experience once again!! I look forward to visiting the cafe during later hours of the evening to experience the setting at night and for better photo opportunities!
It indeed is a perfect setting for a date with friends, a special someone or perhaps a family meal out on a lazy Sunday morning!! You might have to hang on for a while as the cafe is usually overbooked on the weekends!
